Ara Babloyan Receives Delegation Led by Vice President of Senate of Italy

On December 5, the President of the RA National Assembly received the delegation led by the Vice President of the Senate of the Republic of Italy Paola Taverna, who is in Armenia on the occasion of the RA NA extraordinary elections within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Observers’ Team.

Welcoming the guests, Ara Babloyan has underlined that Armenia evaluates the activity of the Observation Missions in the preparatory and holding phase of the elections, which is necessary in the development of democracy and particularly in improving the electoral system and the processes.

Touching upon the Armenian-Italian relations, the Head of the Parliament has noted that our country greatly highlighted the dynamically developing relations with Italy based on two peoples’ historical connections.

The Head of the legislative body has recorded that the Armenian community and the historical-cultural, civilisational and democratic common values unite the two countries and more strengthen the relations. The President of the National Assembly expressed his gratitude to the authorities and the people of Italy for the warm attitude shown towards the Armenian community.

Thanking for the warm reception, Paola Taverna stated that the visit would promote the further deepening of the centuries-old friendly relations between Italy and Armenia. “Now, we are in a country which goes on democratic way and we wish to help in strengthening that process,” the Vice President of the Senate of Italy.

At the guests’ request Ara Babloyan referred to the events in Armenia, the parliamentary extraordinary elections and the regional problems.
